Could the Multiverse Actually Exist According to Modern Science? (Explained Through Marvel Movies)

Marvel didn’t just entertain us with multiverse stories—it took real scientific theories and wrapped them in superhero action. From Doctor Strange to Spider-Man: No Way Home to Loki, every multiverse moment in the MCU is inspired by actual physics.

Let’s break down the real science using movies scenes as examples.

🌌 1. What Is the Multiverse? (Shown in Doctor Strange & Loki)

In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, America Chavez jumps between universes—one full of paint, one futuristic, one animated.
In Loki, a single decision creates an entire new timeline.

Science says this idea is possible, especially through quantum mechanics and cosmic inflation.

Even some Hindu scriptures tells us about multivers. As there are many universe and same people could be in every univers but with different identity.

🧠 2. Many-Worlds Theory — Explained Through Loki’s Variants

Hugh Everett’s Many-Worlds Interpretation says:

Every choice creates a new universe.

This is exactly what Marvel showed in Loki Season 1:

  • Sylvie killing He Who Remains
  • Loki variants (Alligator Loki, Kid Loki, Classic Loki)
  • Branching timelines exploding everywhere

This matches the scientific idea that infinite versions of you may exist in parallel universes.

🌀 3. Bubble Universes — Like the Illuminati Universe in Doctor Strange 2

Cosmic Inflation Theory says multiple universes expand like bubbles.

This is similar to:

  • The Illuminati Universe (Earth-838)
  • The destroyed universe in which Strange fights Sinister.
  • Every universe America Chavez travels through

Each “bubble” has different physics—just like how Earth-838 had Ultron working properly and a different version of the Avengers.

🧬 4. String Theory Dimensions — Seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home

In No Way Home, the spell gone wrong pulls:

  • Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man who has brought in this universe from another universe.
  • Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man who has also came from another universe different from Tobey’s universe and surprisingly all spiderman’s name was same.
  • Villains from multiple dimensions came in same universe.

String theory says there can be 10 or 11 dimensions, and different universes can exist as “branes” floating in higher-dimensional space.

Marvel visualizes this beautifully when Doctor Strange and Peter fall through kaleidoscope dimensions.

🔮 5. Can We Travel the Multiverse Like in the Movies?

Movies show multiverse travel using:

  • Sling Rings (Doctor Strange)Mechanism: A small, two-finger artifact that requires a user to visualize their destination. It primarily creates wormholes that fold space to travel vast distances within a single universe (inter-dimensional travel, such as to the Mirror Dimension), but it can also be used for limited multiversal jumping when combined with other powers or tools, as seen in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

  • Time Doors (Loki’s TVA)Mechanism: Devices (sometimes appearing as simple door frames) that use specialized technology to access and travel across different points in time and different timelines (which are essentially parallel universes/multiverses) from the void of the TVA. The process is clean, instantaneous, and highly controlled by the TVA’s centralized power.
  • Magic Spells (No Way Home)Mechanism: A complex and highly dangerous form of magic. The specific spell Strange cast in Spider-Man: No Way Home was intended to make everyone forget that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. When it was continuously interrupted, the spell fractured, pulling people from other universes who knew Peter Parker was Spider-Man into the main MCU universe (Earth-616). This was an accidental, uncontrolled method of multiversal incursion.
  • America Chavez’s star-shaped portals Mechanism: This is a natural, intrinsic power she possesses, not a tool or spell. She can instantaneously kick open shimmering, star-shaped, tear-like holes in reality that lead directly to any other universe in the Multiverse. Her power is unique in that she doesn’t need a specific spell or device to do it, though she initially struggled to control her power, causing her to jump randomly when scared.

Science says:

❌ We can’t create portals
❌ We can’t cross universes
❌ We have no way to break space-time walls

But…
✔ Quantum teleportation exists
✔ Wormholes are theoretically possible
✔ Space-time can bend under extreme energy

So the concept isn’t impossible.

🪞 6. Do Variants Like Spider-Man or Loki Exist in Real Life?

If the Many-Worlds theory is true:

✔ There could be a version of you who made different life choices
✔ A version who lives in a universe with different physics
✔ A universe where Earth evolved differently

This is the exact concept behind:

  • 3 Spider-Men teaming up
  • Sylvie Loki
  • Zombie Strange
  • Supreme Strange
  • Captain Carter in What If…?

Marvel simply visualizes what physics predicts.

🧪 7. Any Real Evidence of the Multiverse?

Scientists have found hints:

➤ CMB Cold Spots

The same cosmic anomaly that might signal another universe bumping into ours—similar to universes colliding in Doctor Strange 2.

➤ Dark Energy

Some theories say dark energy might leak from other universes.

➤ Mathematics

Multiple equations naturally predict more than one universe—just like MCU’s “infinite Earths”.

Still, no solid proof yet.

8. Religious Evidence about multiverse.

The concept of a multiverse or infinite universes is a prominent and ancient idea within Hindu cosmology, particularly in the Puranas and some Upanishads. It is often used to demonstrate the limitless power and majesty of the Supreme Being.

The Sanskrit term for a single universe or cosmos is Brahmanda (literally “Brahma’s Egg”). Hindu scriptures suggest that there are innumerable such Brahmandas existing simultaneously.

Here are the key scriptural and philosophical concepts describing the Hindu multiverse:

1. The Analogy of Mahā-Viṣṇu

This is one of the most famous and poetic descriptions of the multiverse, primarily found in the Bhagavata Purana (Śrīmad Bhāgavatam).

  • The Originator: The ultimate reality (often identified with Mahā-Viṣṇu or Kāraṇodakaśāyī Viṣṇu) reclines on the Causal Ocean (Kāraṇa) and exhales.
  • Innumerable Universes: With every exhalation, countless Brahmandas (universes) bubble forth from the pores of His gigantic body.
  • Floating Like Atoms: The scripture describes these colossal universes, each one containing an entire cosmos, moving about in the spiritual Causal Ocean (or space) “like atoms” or “particles of dust blowing about in the sky.” This is mentioned in texts like Śrīmad Bhāgavatam (SB 6.16.37):”Every universe is covered by seven layers… There are innumerable universes besides this one, and although they are unlimitedly large, they move about like atoms in You. Therefore You are called unlimited [Ananta].”
  • The Inhabitant: Inside each and every one of these individual universes, a separate Brahmā (the Creator God) is born on a lotus, and the other major deities (Viṣṇu the Preserver and Shiva the Destroyer) are also present, meaning each universe has its own set of creators, systems, and histories.

2. The Vastness of Time: The Cycles of Brahmā

Hindu cosmology defines time on a cosmic scale, which inherently suggests the cyclical creation and destruction of universes.

  • Kalpa (A Day of Brahmā): One Kalpa (4.32 billion human years) is considered one day in the life of Brahmā, the creator. During this day, the universe is manifested and active.
  • Pralaya (A Night of Brahmā): The night of Brahmā is of equal length, during which the universe undergoes a state of dissolution (Pralaya) and everything rests in an unmanifested state.
  • Eternal Cycles: The universe is therefore not a singular event but part of an infinite, recurring cycle of creation, preservation, and destruction that goes on for 100 years of Brahmā’s life, followed by a Mahā-Pralaya (great dissolution) and the birth of a new Brahmā.

This cyclical process, constantly repeating across infinite time, is seen as an ongoing mechanism for producing limitless universes.

3. Multiple Lokas (Planes of Existence)

Beyond the physical space of our universe, Hindu texts describe a layered cosmology known as the Lokas (worlds or realms). While this is technically inter-dimensional rather than multiversal, it adds to the concept of non-singular reality.

  • The universe is typically described as containing 14 Lokas (seven higher and seven lower), which are distinct planes of existence, each with different physical laws, spiritual frequencies, and inhabitants (gods, humans, demons, etc.).

The concept of the multiverse in Hinduism is less about different “choices” (as in some modern theories) and more about the sheer, immeasurable vastness and power of the Divine, which is capable of manifesting countless realities simultaneously and eternally.
